If you are booked on a Star Alliance flight in First class, Business class, or have Star Alliance Gold Status, you have access to a selection of lounges at London Heathrow T2. You can visit each one or just one. Based on our long layover at LHR coming back from Mauritius, we share information about the 3 lounges we visited to help you choose the best one for your preferences and needs.
Lounges:
There are 4 Star Alliance Lounges in T2 at LHR:
- Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge: The Air Canada Maple Leaf™ Lounge at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2 offers luxury convenience for passengers departing London on long-haul flights, features include; a tended bar; a spa-like shower area; a bistro with chef’s cooking station and a “quiet zone” with TV-equipped relaxation pods and chaises.
- Lufthansa Business Lounge: The Lufthansa lounge has a surface area of 1,600 square meters and seating for 350 guests, the largest surface area of any Lufthansa lounge outside of Germany. The lounge is divided into two parts – Lufthansa Business Lounge and Lufthansa Senator Lounge. The Business Lounge is available to passengers travelling in business class or those who have Frequent Traveller status in Miles & More. The Senator lounge is available for passengers who have gold cards in the Star Alliance, which includes Senator and Hon Circle members of Miles & More.
- Singapore Airlines Silverkris Lounge: Whether you just want to relax over a drink or attend to urgent business before you begin your journey, you can enjoy world-class comfort and service in the London Heathrow SilverKris Lounge.
- United Club: United Club at London Heathrow offers high end amenities, hot food, a broad drink selection, and spa inspired shower suites. For the ultimate in privacy, the club features several large, modern and fully enclosed work spaces, which are ideal for ad-hoc meetings or simply for privacy or phone calls.

| Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge | Singapore Airlines Silverkris | United Club | |
| Space /10 | 4 Very small lounge with limited seating. Some are lounge-style chairs with low tables, some bar top staring at a wall, and some dining style. The Lounge was not cleaned frequently. The washrooms were nice: large private stalls. | 7 Large open layout with various seating options: dining for 2, dining for larger groups, and lounge- style chairs. The style is very outdated and old school. The lounge was frequently cleaned. Standard stall washrooms. | 7 Large and open layout with lots of seating options but not a lot of privacy. Some bar top seats, dining style and bar top. Single stalls with toilet and sinks but only 6 for a large lounge. The lounge was frequently cleaned. |
| Food and beverage /10 | 3 Very limited options: would be hard to have a meal. Mostly cold options like pasta salad, chips/salsa,. Limited beverages too: sparkling wine was served warm. Limited beer options: Guinness or lagers. | 8 Very good selection of food here, including healthy, vegetarian, and Thai food. Bar offerings included the signature gin, cocktails, wine (similar to United but less options), and beer on tap. | 7 Breakfast and lunch options were decent. English breakfast buffet style with hash browns, eggs, sausages, beans, etc. Lunch had a selection of soups, salads, crudites, and the popular cottage pie. Small buffet area for a large busy lounge. Best bar of all lounges with a good selection of draft beers, cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages. |
| Amenities /10 | 5 A couple of shower rooms, printer, computer, digital magazines. Not easy to find a plug-in | 4 Shower rooms, TV, and digital magazines. Plug-ins were accessible but not everywhere. | 6 Really nice shower rooms and many of them so a short wait to use one. Easy to find a plug-in. |
| Lounge Atmosphere /10 | 5 The lounge feels very crowded and congested. Not relaxing. It was also dirty. | 7 It was quiet when we were there and found some private seating. There were loud children running around and screaming though. | 6 Much nicer than the other United Clubs we have been to. It was busy but we did find a quiet enough seat for ourselves. Many of the people in the lounge had really bad etiquette though: loud talking on Facetime and watching shows on tablets without headphones. |
| Total /40 | 17 Would not visit again unless it was the only lounge we had access to. On par with some of the less nice domestic lounges in Canada. | 26 We would visit again as it was quiet and we liked the food. | 26 We would visit again, especially to use the showers. |
Photos:
We do not have many photos as we do not take photos in lounges and on airplanes of other people as we find it disrespectful to people and their privacy.

Summary:
We had thought about leaving the airport to check out London during our 8 hour layover but are happy we decided to do our little lounge hop as it did take us about 1.5 hours to transfer terminals! We will see you next time London! Overall, the lounges each had their pros and cons. The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge was the closest to our gate; we enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Singapore Lounge the best; and the bar offerings (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) and the showers at the United Lounge.

Have you visited the Star Alliance Lounges at London Heathrow Airport? If yes, which one was your favorite!
