At a glance:
The 92 room Anantara Hoi An Resort describes itself as a “leading luxury boutique resort” providing ultimate riverside relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of tourist hot spot, Hoi An in Vietnam.
What it actually is: A very nice property just outside the bustling center of Hoi An, allowing guests great proximity to the city while still maintaining a peaceful riverfront setting.
What it is not: A large chain resort, as the hotel has more of a boutique feel to it.
Room: Deluxe River Suite
Time of year: Spring
Scores:
Hotel Design: 90 – Lots of French Colonial charm in the exterior design, and yet still has a fairly modern and fresh feeling for a hotel of its age.
Location: 100 – The perfect location for exploring Hoi An: it is both an easy walk to all the city attractions and just far enough removed to be very peaceful.
Sleep: 87 – Very comfortable and quiet overall, but room-to-room soundproofing could be a bit better.
Service: 97 – The hotel went above-and-beyond for us on multiple occasions, and the pre-arrival experience was top-notch.
Room Design: 89 – Spacious with updated decor. Our room had a nice view of the river and cozy spaces to sit both inside and out (although not completely private as the terrace fronts the shared outdoor walkway).
Room Amenities: 89 – Fairly standard but good overall.
Hotel Amenities: 85 – A decent outdoor pool and bar area, complimentary bikes, a spa, and nice waterfront restaurant were all much enjoyed. The fitness centre is very small.
Vibe: 90 – A peaceful escape from the busy streets of Hoi An, with many upscale tour groups and bucket-list vacationers.
Cleanliness / Maintenance: 95 – Very clean and well maintained overall.
Value / Extras & Perks: 85 – Complimentary bikes for exploring the area was a nice touch. Prices are high by Hoi An standard, and the included breakfast quality was slightly disappointing when compared to other high end hotels in Vietnam.
OVERALL: 90.7
