At a glance:
The Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe is a full service hotel located on Victoria harbor, just a short walk from all downtown Victoria has to offer.
What it actually is: A large, mostly renovated hotel in a nice location.
What it is not: The exterior makes it look more grand than it actually is. While it does offer a standard array of amenities, we also wouldn’t consider this to be a “resort” but the location does make it feel slightly less urban than other downtown area hotels.
Room: Deluxe, 1 king, water view
Time of year: winter
Scores:
Hotel Design: 75 – A (mostly) refreshed property. Generic style is not very exciting given the dramatic exterior.
Location: 95 – Convenient yet quiet, almost all you could want for a downtown location.
Sleep: 80 – Standard Delta bedding (which we find above average), no major noise issues noticed.
Service: 75 – No issues but nothing special either.
Room Design: 72 – High ceilings were nice, but small windows on top floor made it feel surprisingly dark
Room Amenities: 70 – Standard.
Hotel Amenities: 75 – As expected for the brand.
Vibe: 68 – A bit of a weird mix of business-hotel meets pre-cruise stop over.
Cleanliness / Maintenance: 80 – Above average. No issues.
Value / Extras & Perks: 75 – Pricey for the brand, but to be expected (especially during peak summer months). Lounge for Marriott Elite members, with average offerings – but the patio is nice.
OVERALL: 76.5
Would we stay again? Maybe if it was the best priced option for our trip.
