Review: Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula – A Luxurious Instagram-Worthy Resort

A highly acclaimed 5 star resort, the Intercontinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula is a picture-perfect getaway tucked away just a short drive from tourist hub of Danang.

What it actually is: Extravagant and luxurious, this resort is Instagram fodder at every turn, which also becomes its achilles heel.

What it is not: Under the radar – this is a very popular place to see…and be seen…by posting about it…or not…?

Hotel Design: 99 – Grandiose and whimsical, this IC is far more unique than its brand may suggest.

Location: 98 – A coveted and extremely private location on the Sun Peninsula, with a beautiful stretch of beach. Short rides (or twice daily complimentary shuttles) provide access to Da Nang city or Hoi An.

Sleep: 95 – Luxurious bedding, strong AC and no noticeable noise.

Service: 93 – Very polished and professional overall (almost too much at times)

Room Design: 97 – The grandiose style of the exterior continues into the guest rooms, which feature enormous bathtubs, rain showers and lots of natural light. Unfortunately, we did experience many monkeys coming onto our patio looking for food, and had to be very vigilant in shooing them away. It seems other guests enjoy their company by feeding them intentionally or unintentionally by leaving food on their patio unattended.

Room Amenities: 95 – A large balcony with great views, and everything else you’d expect from a 5 star resort.

Hotel Amenities: 94 – Multiple pools, great beach service, complimentary water activities, and generally good (but not always great) food at the onsite restaurants.

Vibe: 87 – Instagramers gone wild. Unfortunately the resort is a victim of its own beauty so be prepared for constant guest photoshoots which we feel distracts from the overall experience.

Cleanliness / Maintenance: 98 – No issues here. One minor maintenance issue was resolved very quickly.

Value / Extras & Perks: 94 – IHG elite members get free breakfast, which features a huge selection and high quality items. Otherwise, prices are generally very high so your value may vary.
