Review: Delta Hotels by Marriott St. John’s Conference Centre – More updating please…

At a glance:

Built in 1987 and renovated in 2018, the Delta St John’s is a prominent convention hotel in St John’s Newfoundland.

What is actually is: A partially renovated older property near the harbour in St John’s that it pretty average overall.

What it is not: Much more than a standard mid-range hotel.

Room: Junior Suite

Time of year: Summer

Scores:

Hotel Design: 70 – Standard mid-level business hotel that’s been slightly updated.

Location: 85 – Pretty central, but a few blocks from some of the downtown attractions.

Sleep: 82 – Comfortable and quiet.

Service: 72 – Average.

Room Design: 66 – Spacious, and partially updated…but still felt old, especially with very dated feeling bathroom.

Room Amenities: 70 – Average, except with a partial view of the harbour.

Hotel Amenities: 76 – Pretty standard with an updated lobby, a basic restaurant and bar, and there’s a pool on the lower level.

Vibe: 62 – Boring convention hotel.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: 73 – Ok.

Value / Extras & Perks: 81 – Rates were high in the summer. An upgrade to a junior suite was received, along with lounge access due to Marriott status. The lounge was slightly above average.

OVERALL: 73.7

Would we stay again? Probably not.
