At a glance:
The Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland aims to offer a boutique hotel experience with “urban-chic” rooms.
What is actually is: Moxy’s* slightly older sibling? *Funny enough there a Moxy hotel across the street.
What it is not: Leading the pack – there’s a lot of hip hotels in PDX and this one feels like it’s falling behind.
Room: 1 King City View
Time of year: Fall
Scores:
Hotel Design: 79 – Bright colors and modern-industrial look throughout, with a small lobby and straightforward layout.
Location: 78 – While centrally located, downtown Portland has lost some of it’s charm over the years – some might find the surrounding streets a bit sketchy at times.
Sleep: 76 – Average bedding. We didn’t hear much street noise.
Service: 75 – Very straightforward – nothing memorable.
Room Design: 80 – We like the concrete floors and funky industrial look. We don’t love the room layout though.
Room Amenities: 75 – Standard
Hotel Amenities: 74 – Not much to offer.
Vibe: 77 – Trying to be cool….with mixed results.
Cleanliness/Maintenance: 70 – Room was acceptable, but standards didn’t feel very high. It felt rough-around-the-edges overall, especially for a newer hotel. Our room could have been cleaner.
Value / Extras & Perks: 70 – We received a higher floor room. Complimentary coffee in the lobby was nice, but cut off at 7am when the restaurant opened unfortunately (sometimes they ran out of free coffee before 7 and didn’t replenish it).
OVERALL: 75.4
Would we stay again? No.
