Review: Hyatt Regency Seattle Lake Washington: executive suite

At a glance:

Located within 30 minutes of downtown Seattle in Renton, the Hyatt Regency Seattle Lake Washington is a lakeside hotel for tourists, stay-cationers, and business travelers. With 347 rooms, it is a larger hotel, popular for events and conferences, and guests who want to enjoy time by the lake.

What is actually is: A modern lakefront hotel – ultimately almost everything you’d like a suburban Hyatt Regency to be.

What it is not: Nearby to any interesting neighborhoods – the only things within walking distance are part of an outdoor shopping complex.

Time of Year: Summer

Room: Executive suite

Scores:

Hotel Design: 81 – The overall design feels more luxurious than your average Hyatt Regency, but is still fairly generic overall.

Location: 81 – A beautiful setting on lake Washington (which is very enjoyable when weather permits) but far from most area attractions.

Sleep: 94 –Very comfortable overall. We enjoyed the suite more than the partial lake view room because it was quieter and had windows that opened.

Service: 94 – Friendly staff who went above-and-beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They went above and beyond to resolve a minor issue we had with missing points from a Peloton ride.

Room Design: 90 – Upscale but fairly generic. Due to the hotel’s design, you may lack some privacy and only rooms located at the front of the hotel really good views. Our suite was very spacious with a separate living area, a large bathroom, and a large bedroom.

Room Amenities: 85 – Standard amenities for this brand.

Hotel Amenities: 82 – The lakefront patio and restaurant are a big draw during nice weather. The onsite gym is large and well-equipped, and the onsite cafe/store in convenient (but priced as expected).

Vibe: 80 – A popular lakeside gathering place. Summer stay-cations, business travelers, and guests who are there for a special event (there were 2 weddings during our stay). The onsite restaurant is very busy and reservations are required, along with a $20 per person reservation fee which is annoying.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: 90 – Very clean and well-maintained.

Value / Extras & Perks: 90 – We used a suite upgrade certificate to get a suite. While summer rates are high, we used points and the additional destination and parking fees were waived. Complimentary breakfast for 2 was provided at the restaurant and destination fee included a free drink at the bar daily.

OVERALL: 86.7

Would we stay again? Yes!
