The Grand Hyatt Seoul opened in 1978 and maintains its status as a popular hotel in Seoul with its wide range of amenities and dining options. With 600+ rooms offering stunning views of Namsan mountain and the Han River, it’s a a great place to stay during your visit to Seoul if you want to relax while also being steps away from some interesting neighborhoods.

What is actually is: A bustling and stately large hotel with amenities that draws both business and pleasure visitors.

What it is not: A place to escape the crowds.

Hotel Design: 89 – A mix of old and new, classic and modern – the design feels both distinctly Korean, yet also worldly.

Location: 91 – Situated adjacent to Namsan park, the location feels away from immediate hustle and bustle but still convenient to many attractions in Itaewon and Myeongdon. The hotel is also in the same neighborhood as many embassies and consulates.

Sleep: 96 – Very comfortable bedding, no noticeable noise and a general sense of zen in the room all contributed to great sleep.

Service: 88 – Efficient and friendly.

Room Design: 87 – Beautiful floor to ceiling windows capture the river view well, and the overall aesthetic was very nice. The space itself was well utilized, but on the small side, especially the bathroom.

Room Amenities: 86 – A great view, mini-fridge, and an in-room purified water dispenser (a first for us!).

Hotel Amenities: 87 – Several onsite restaurants/bars and a deli. There’s also a large pool and fitness center (and seasonal skating rink). A complimentary shuttle provides quick access to the subway, shopping, and dinning.

Vibe: 83 – Very busy with a constant flow of various travelers, along with locals attending events and gathering.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: 99 – Excellent – the hotel interior felt almost brand new despite the building being 47 years old and the daily housekeeping was impeccable.

Value / Extras & Perks: 94 – Due to our Hyatt status we received an upgraded view, late check-out and access to the club lounge with good offerings in both the morning and evening. The hotel shuttle (available to all) was a nice touch.
