About Us

Champagne in the desert at sunset

Maxine and Jason

Our motto is “luxury on a budget” and we maximize our trips by participating in a number of travel rewards programs to earn and redeem points.

As professionals who work in operations, we only travel with carry on and help others to adopt this minimalist approach to travel to save time, minimize travel interruptions and to just enjoy the freedom of not being weighed down by possessions.

When we’re on a trip, you’ll find us seeking out local places to eat and drink while walking as much as possible. We are also big fans of Anthony Bourdain and have attempted to follow in his footsteps to experience things we may have been too scared to try otherwise.

Travel Quotes:

“Appreciate each place for what it is and not what it isn’t ” Jason

”How long from now until hungry?” Maxine

Introducing: Hotel Reviews and Room Tours!

“I still enjoy traveling a lot. I mean, it amazes me that I still get excited in hotel rooms just to see what kind of shampoo they’ve left me. “Bill Bryson

Due to our love of seeking out the best places to stay, we have decided to expand WeLeaveToday to include more hotel reviews and room tours to help you choose the best places to stay around the world! All of our stays are unsponsored: we pay with cash or points, often doing our best to find the best deals available out there.

When you’re paying for something, and not getting it for free with a dedicated camera team and PR team, you are more critical of what is being offered. We all want the nicest room at the hotel, with an unobstructed view of the sunset over the ocean, as a rainbow and dolphins magically appear, while someone is sabering a bottle of Dom for you, in this most magical and perfect moment. But, that’s the stuff influencers get for free, or are paid to share, so that you in turn spend your money to get the same experience. Often, you’ll stay at the same hotel, get a view of the parking lot, with noise from the nearby restaurant, and no one will be sabering champagne for you. We have experienced some of both, and lots of in betweens.

It can be daunting for find accurate and fair reviews on TripAdvisor with all the fake ones. This is another reason we have added new posts on our “Stay – Hotel Reviews” page. Join us in finding out more about hotels around the world to minimize disappointment and manage expectations! If we are missing a detail that is important to you, or you have specific questions about a hotel featured, do not hesitate to post a comment on the post, the YouTube video, or email us!
