Hotel Review: Cape Kudu, Koh Yao Noi – A peaceful retreat, steps away from the beach!

At a glance:

Cape Kudu is a cozy boutique hotel on the island of Koh Yao Noi. Offering a range of rooms, including pool villas, it is one of the few high-end properties on the island.

What it actually is: A charming, peaceful hotel at a reasonable price point.

What it is not: A full-service beach resort.

Time of year: Spring

Room Type: Pool Villa

Scores

Hotel Design: 85 – The hotel is fairly compact, featuring around 55 rooms and pool villas. The lobby and pool deck sit at the front, closest to the sea, while the rooms are set further back, offering varying views. Note that the hotel is separated from the beach by a road.

Location: 85 – Located about a 20-minute drive from the ferry pier on the southeastern part of the island. There are plenty of spots within walking distance, yet the hotel maintains a very quiet atmosphere. It’s a great place to wake up early and catch the sunrise on the beach.

Sleep: 85 – Very good! The room was quiet, and the bed was medium-firm with comfortable pillows.

Service: 85 – Very good! The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay.

Room Design: 79 – Our pool villa featured a lovely breezy beach aesthetic with whites and pastels, though the layout was slightly awkward. Despite being spacious, the amount of furniture made it feel a bit cluttered. Additionally, the patio was split into two sections, requiring you to step into the pool to reach the sun loungers under the umbrella. The bathroom was spacious, complete with a nice shower and a soaking tub.

Room Amenities: 85 – The room included a mini-fridge, minibar drinks and snacks, coffee, bottled water, a private pool, and two outdoor seating areas on the patio. Water pressure and temperature in the shower were excellent.

Hotel Amenities: 85 – Amenities include a small fitness room, a shared pool and pool deck, complimentary bikes, a guest lounge offering light refreshments (their house cookies are awesome!), a pool table, an activities desk, and private or shared boat transfers. Dining options include an all-day restaurant and bar, a separate bar across the road, and a casual Mediterranean spot.

Vibe: 85 – Sophisticated, barefoot luxury that feels more Mediterranean than Thai.

Cleanliness / Maintenance: 85 – Excellent; no issues to report.

Value / Extras & Perks: 83 – Our room rate was very reasonable and included breakfast. The hotel’s boat transfer incurred an extra fee, but it was reasonably priced and made arrival completely seamless.
