Review: Brew House at Abandoned Rail Brewing – An Airbnb at a brewery!

At a glance:

The Brew House is a small detached one bedroom house located on the Abandoned Rail Brewing Co’s property that can sleep up to 4. It has everything you need to enjoy a vacation and leisure time in the Penticton/Naramata area!

What is actually is: A quaint and comfortable place to stay to enjoy exploring the area and catching the perfect summer sunset on the large patio.

What it is not: Your typical Airbnb in someone’s basement.

Time of year: Summer

Highlights:

Design: The house is nice and modern and offers privacy from the hustle and bustle of the busy brewery nearby. The design style is modern and minimalist with a bit of a farmhouse feel to it.

Location: The house is located about a 10-15 minute drive from both Penticton and Naramata Village. It is walkable to a few wineries and has a prime location for access to the Kettle Valley Trail.

Sleep: The mattress was firmer than what we prefer and we knew the bed was a queen at time of booking, but we felt the space was large enough to comfortably accommodate a king bed. Otherwise, it was quiet and comfortable.

Amenities: The house has a small bathroom at the entrance with a shower, a couch with a pull out bed in the living room that can accommodate 2 extra people, a very well stocked kitchen, an outdoor gas BBQ, a large patio with comfortable furniture and umbrella, and the wifi was really fast and reliable. Basics like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish soap, dishwasher pods, and laundry detergent were provided. One negative is that the front door without a blind is right beside the bathroom and a blind would be great for some extra privacy.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: Everything was very clean and well maintained.

Host Interactions/Rules: We did not have any issues and all our interactions with the host were pleasant. There were rules, but they were very reasonable and easy to follow.

Value / Extras & Perks: We were provided with some of the Abandoned Rail beers in the fridge and some branded koozies. The price was very reasonable for an Airbnb of this caliber during a peak time.

Would we stay again? Yes
