Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt Manila – Convenient location and excellent breakfast!

At a glance:

The Grand Hyatt Manila is a large hotel that attracts business and leisure travelers, as well as special events. With 461 rooms, the tower reaches 56 floors that overlook Bonifacio Global City.

What it actually is: A high-end branded hotel that’s an alternative to other luxury hotels in the area and nearby Makati.

What it is not: A hotel where you skip breakfast!

Time of year: Winter

Room Type: Grand Suite

Scores

Hotel Design: 85 – It’s a high-rise with about 56 floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. The lobby is always busy, but there are plenty of elevators to handle the volume of people coming and going. Slightly underwhelming and generic for this type of hotel.

Location: 95 – The hotel is conveniently located in BGC, offering a very safe, clean, and walkable area. There are numerous shops, restaurants, and more nearby. Access to other areas, such as Makati, is easy. Our Grab ride to and from the airport took about 40 minutes each way.

Sleep: 85 – The bed and linens were excellent and room soundproofing was very good. You do occasionally get siren noise from being in a large city, which is out of the hotel’s control.

Service: 88 – Generally, service was very good. As Hyatt Globalists, we were able to check in at the lounge and wait there for our room to be ready. Service in the lounge and at breakfast was also friendly and attentive.

Room Design: 88 – Our room, a Grand Suite, was spacious, had a good flow, felt bright due to the floor-to-ceiling windows and being on a higher floor, and was comfortable. Inside, the room had warm tones with wood floors and accents. The bathroom felt very clean with floor-to-ceiling marble.

Room Amenities: 88 – Our room had a nice spacious living area, a mini fridge, a bathroom with a shower and bathtub, bathrobes, a Nespresso machine, bottled water, and a large closet with a safe. More or less what you expect for this type of room and hotel.

Hotel Amenities: 92 – The hotel has a large outdoor pool, a well-equipped gym, a spa, a few restaurants/bars, and an impressive club lounge on the top floor. The club lounge is pretty spectacular with its views and the impressive selection of hot and cold food items and drinks. The main restaurant has an excellent breakfast buffet with everything you could want and then some.

Vibe: 78 – Locals hosting special events/on staycation, business travelers, and Americans in Manila.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: 75 – This is where the hotel scores low. We found our room was showing signs of wear and tear and in need of some maintenance (e.g., water damage in the ceiling). It was also a little dusty and could have been cleaner for this caliber of hotel.

Value / Extras & Perks: 95 – As Hyatt Globalists, we were upgraded to a Grand Suite, provided snacks upon arrival, and given access to the club lounge—which features an impressive nightly evening service with drinks and plenty of food—as well as complimentary breakfast.

OVERALL: 86.9

Would we stay again? YES
